Move On Up
What: Play and develop skills in a band
Who: S5/6 school students and young adults
Where: Berkeley 2 Studios
We provide sessions for S5/6 pupils and young adults who have left school to form bands and work on instrumental/vocal skills in a supported setting. The project focuses on groups of 6-8 young people working together, with each member taking on a clear identity e.g. drummer; vocalist; keyboards etc. Participants collaborate and perform, developing musical skills and also social and collaborative skills as they take the lead in designing a programme of musical activity for their band. Participation in this project helps young people to develop important social and life skills to help them navigate leaving school and transitioning to young adulthood.
